New 1536×1536 Spatial Light Modulator and New Non-mechanically Steered Lidar Demo Announced

LAFAYETTE, Colorado | December 21, 2018

Boulder Nonlinear Systems (BNS) is pleased to announce two new developments showcasing recent efforts in both spatial light modulator design (SLMs) and liquid crystal polarization grating (LCPG) beam steering.

Specifically, the new high-speed 1536×1536 SLM system is capable of displaying phase masks for near infrared light at up to 600 frames per second while maintaining high diffraction efficiency. The system incorporates a number of innovative features and is described in detail here.

Additionally, BNS has incorporated its patented LCPG beam steering into a commercial time-of-flight (ToF) camera as part of a high-definition solid-state lidar demonstration. The demonstration is the culmination of a 6-month SBIR development effort that showcases many of the benefits of LCPG non-mechanical beam steering for lidar. More details can be found here.

For a more information about both developments, stop by the BNS booth at the SPIE BiOS Exhibition in San Francisco, CA, Booth 8431 during February 2-3, 2019.
